Sam Al-Hamdani
Born and bred in the constituency, Sam has been a local Liberal Democrat councillor for the last five years.
Prior to that he has a wide range of experience in both the public and private sector. Originally a journalist, specialising in environmental issues and business, he then qualified as a graphic designer, for high street, blue chip brands, organisations such as the World Wildlife Fund, and local businesses and charities.
He later worked as an editor and proofreader within the United Nations. He then moved to the Fair Tax Foundation, helping to promote effective tax policies and challenge international tax avoidance.
He has a track record of campaigning on a series of vital issues; addressing tax avoidance and profit shifting to create a level playing field for small business; tackling domestic abuse and violence; and protecting the environment, whether that means ensuring housebuilding is focused on brownfield sites, addressing the hideous level of sewage dumping in local rivers, and moving to a low-carbon economy.
