A new tramline for Oldham
Our tram system currently only works well for people travelling directly to Manchester city centre. Oldham should be better served, with an orbital service which connects to the Transpennine Express line near Ashton, up to Oldham centre, and past Royal Oldham Hospital and Oldham Athletic football ground. This would make it much easier for people to access both of those by public transport, and would also open up the south side of Oldham to the benefits of the tram system, which is currently completely ignored.
With only one train station in the whole of Oldham borough, at Greenfield, it is vital that we improve the tram network across the area. Currently, there are almost no plans to improve the network in Oldham with outline plans for one new stop near Rochdale.
A new tram for Oldham
I support a new tramline connecting Oldham to Ashton, connecting the tram line from Ashton up to the centre of Oldham and past the hospital and football ground.
