Highways plans for Stamford Road

A 20mph zone for Stamford Road, which we have repeatedly been asked for by residents, is now approaching a reality.

We’ve been working hard over the last two years to make sure that junction improvements also included safety measures down the rest of Stamford Road. Finally, this design has been provisionally agreed by council officers and it’s now out for formal consultation – so it’s important you have the chance to have your say.

Broadly the scheme involves making Stamford Road a 20 zone and putting in speed cushions along the whole length. 20 zones have been shown to bring down average speeds and this is what we’re hoping for on Stamford Road.

Public notice of consultation

Highways report on the proposals

The report contains maps and a full description which should explain why the design is the way it is and answer many of your potential questions. If you’ve any further questions, please do get in touch with me. If you’ve any formal comments you want to make then email env.traffic@oldham.gov.uk or write to the Environment Group Solicitor, Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham, OL1 1UL by 14th February 2024. Any such documents received may be made available for public inspection.
